GMO Cookies potency: THC, CBD and terpenes from 2,159 lab tests

In 2,159 state lab tests, GMO Cookies flower had a median total THC of 26.74%, with the middle half of results between 23.46% and 29.83%; 64.8% of tests reached 25% or more.1 Of the 43 strains in our dataset with at least 100 tests, none had a higher median.1 CBD is negligible, and limonene leads the terpenes by median, ahead of β-myrcene and β-caryophyllene: the same three terpenes Leafly lists, though Leafly puts caryophyllene first.1,2

How published THC figures compare

Strain databases publish a single figure or a range: AllBud lists 20–24% THC, Leafly 28% (with 1% CBG) and Weedmaps 22–32%.2,3,4 Seed sellers advertise 24% for Barney’s Farm’s autoflower, 25–30% for Dr. Blaze’s GMO, 28% for Barney’s Farm’s GMO and Zamnesia’s GMO Cookies and 30% for Barney’s Farm’s GMO Cookies and Garlic Cookies; Prime Cuts Nursery gives 24–30% for its clone.5,6,7,8,9,10,11 In state lab results, half of GMO Cookies flower tested above 26.74% and one in ten above 31.84%, so the 28–30% catalog figures fall inside the upper half of the lab range rather than beyond it, while AllBud’s 20–24% ends close to the point where the middle half of our results begins (23.46%).1 The highest single result in our data was 37.63%.1

Results differ by market: among states with at least 10 tests, the median ran from 24.86% in Washington (241 tests) to 31.25% in California (50). In every year with at least 100 tests (2020–2023) the yearly median stayed between 25.90% and 28.75%.1 It is the third most-tested of the 58 strains in our dataset, after Wedding Cake and Ice Cream Cake.1

Limits of this data

  • Coverage is uneven. Michigan (818), Maryland (617), Nevada (406) and Washington (241) supply 2,082 of the 2,159 tests, which date from 2018 to 2024; Oregon and Rhode Island results carry no product names and could not be matched.
  • Some labs report higher THC than others, so we publish medians and middle ranges rather than maxima. No single lab accounts for more than 19.8% of these tests (43 labs in total).
  • Terpene medians come from 456 tests with individual terpene values, 406 of them from Nevada labs. Maryland reports only total terpenes (605 tests), and the Michigan, Washington, Colorado and Hawaii tests carry none.
  • We matched names strictly: "GMO", "GMO Cookies", "Garlic Cookies" and "GMO Garlic Cookies" all count, but crosses and names that add another strain (for example "GMO x Skywalker OG", 238 results) are excluded and counted, and duplicate certificates are removed.
